The details of Tim's passing are difficult to write about, but because I was one of the few to see him in the end, I feel responsibility to answer. I say the following with care and respect for our friend.
Tim lost his struggle with alcohol and died of liver failure and encephalopathy. He showed up in Rochester in summer 2008 with no announcement, and his brother Steve called me to say he was in Rochester General. He asked to see me and our longtime pal Joe Pagano, who went to Bishop Kearney. The three of us travelled to FL together in the 1970's and stayed in pretty good touch overs the years. Tim was saying his goodbyes, and he did so with his usual great wit, fantastic sense of humor, and with great courage. Though maybe not consciously, he knew he was dying. I brought my guitar and we sang and laughed, and then he went back home to LA and passed a week later.
Tim worked in the telecommunications industry and lived in LA with his brother Pat for most of his adult life. He stayed in great touch with Joe and myself; he was far better at making the call than I, that's for sure. Even in the face of impending death he was charming; he was truly a great person and I miss him.
Thank you for letting me know. Tim was a good/loyal friend in high school and while I never kept in touch with him after that, I would think about him from time to time. I'm so sorry to hear about his struggles. I'm sure it was very difficult for you to lose such a cherished friend. My condolences to you.

Does anyone know how Tim Condon died?
