For our 39th annual Indian Summer Reunion, the weather gods were not as cooperative as last year. The weather started out cloudy and jacket-cool. The sun did eventually make an appearance, but it was still jacket, or IHS Class of 1975 "Indians Forever" hoodie, weather for the afternoon. Our master chef, Stu Chait, arrived early and set up his smoker to cook his awesome beef ribs. I arrived a little later to keep him company. The cook went about five hours using his process. The result, as with last year, was melt-in-your-mouth-fall-off-the-bone-delicious beef ribs with a variety of sauces on the side for individual preference. Guests began arriving in the mid-afternoon. Everyone brought a dish to pass which gave us a nice variety of sides to compliment Stu’s ribs. Also, a good variety of beverages were provided by everyone. We all enjoyed our summer kick off dinner even with the less than perfect weather. As evening approached some of us moved the party to O’Loughlin’s where we found more familiar faces. Along with our “usual” party group it was nice to see some new-old faces attend this gathering. From Arizona, Tina Stolze Ladowski and her husband Ron were there. Also coming by was Mindy Winterman Kannard from Ohio. Other new former classmates attending were Lindsay Hood Keeling, Tony Oliveri, and Rosemary Oliveri Cowan and her husband Roger. Mike Butler and his wife Kathy also joined us. I enjoyed talking with them all as I hadn’t seen most of them since high school. I get to know many people better at these events than I did in school, so these are always very pleasant and fun occasions. When the smaller group got to O’Loughlin's we had a discussion about planning for our 40th reunion next year. We are considering renting a place this time, such as a cabin at Camp Eastman in Durand Park, the St. Paul Firemen’s Exempt on Thomas Ave in Irondequoit, or some other place. We also discussed trying to get more people from different groups to be involved to contact and encourage the people they hung around with at IHS to attend the 40th. So, if anyone out there wants to put in their time to help get the largest reunion turn out ever next year, please leave a message on the www.IHSclassof1975.com website, or contact me at mikelod@frontiernet.net. As planning progresses, you will be contacted. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide to make our 40th reunion the best ever! See y'all at the 40th! Aloha, HL |

IHS Indian Summer 06142014 Posted Wednesday, June 25, 2014 06:15 PM Nice summary as always Mike. Hopefully the weather cooperates next year, though I really didn't mind getting to show off my well worn "Indians Forever" hoodie! And after the winter we had it did almost seem downright balmy.
