Once again, everyone was full of good holiday cheer for this impromptu get together triggered by Dan Brennan’s visit ‘home’!

This was a more intimate gathering than usual, and we actually crammed all of us into one table for a bit!

I came in in and sat with Dan and Heidi, then Jer joined us and we ordered dinner. As my Murph’s double bacon burger arrived, so did John, who asked me if I had doubled my Lipitor dose so I could safely eat that beast of a burger! “Mr. Sunshine” strikes again ;-) !

Dan Brennan was in from the Baltimore area to see his family for the holidays. He talked of how good it is to see his home town friends and also recently getting together with old college friends too.

Heidi told us of her ‘tofurkey’ she made for Christmas.

Sharon, Beth, and I talked in general about future gathering possibilities.

Beth showed pictures of her grandson.

We will let you all know about the next get together, and please let us know when you will be in town and we can get something going for your visit!

My apologies if I missed anyone! And I’m sorry this is so late, but Beth, “The Boss” seems to have given up on prodding me for timeliness (notice how I didn’t take the blame myself….maybe I’ve been following politics too much!).

The holiday season is upon us and all were full of good cheer!

I had the pleasure of dining on Haddock French with “The Most Interesting Man in the World” (Jer), which was delicious as the food always is at Murph’s . If you haven’t eaten there, give it a shot; I have never had a bad meal there.

“Murph” advised us the restaurant will be moved to its new location in the new-build Irondequoit Square in 2013. I lamented that it would be a sad day for me since Murph’s was FKA the Irondequoit Towne Lounge, under the ownership of Paul Christo, where, at 15, I had my first real job bussing tables (thanks to John Hart, who we missed at this party). I would love to have a party there around the time they are closing the old place with as many former IHS former ITL employees as possible. We could bus the tables for Murph!! Hope I get tips (free beer?)!!

Jeanne and Dan arrived and she advised us that she was getting over a flu that she caught from working with her “little petri dishes” (Kindergarten class!), which had to be explained to me (duh).

Janet espoused on the joys of having to work around the renovation of her office at work.

Gary is fixing up a house in Florida that he bought sight unseen. He has more nerve than I do!!!

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think Sherri won the Facebook Quiz. I was getting kind of confused around then!

Beth wore her traditional Holiday IHS CO 75 Hoodie, gave the Facebook Quiz, and offered candy (which, for the first time in my life, I declined!!!!). And most important, she's a Gramma!!!

Sue told us of the terrible time she had with her new coffee maker. Of course, the men understood why she didn’t bother with the instructions until all else failed, except for the fact that she is a woman! This led to a brief acknowledgement by Ray, Sue, and me concerning our famous Sicilian tempers…don’t worry, no one got killed……

Steve stopped in with us for a while between his other social obligations!

Alla told me of some places where teens can go dance for my son to try. But if he dances like me, I’m not so sure it’s such a good idea!

We discovered that Ray seems to have taken pest extermination instruction from Carl Spackler (Bill Murray’s groundskeeper character in Caddyshack).

Stu stopped by after his successful gallery show earlier in the evening.

We did, however, miss a few of the “regulars” who didn’t make it, and we hope to see them at the next party.

New baby challenge

Greetings classmates. My wife Chansa and I welcomed a new baby boy to our household on October 23rd. Klaus Edward Heiman joins older brothers Brandon, 7, and Jordan, 4, to our family. What can I say? I got a late start. Last I knew it was determined Gary Jones was closest to me for having the youngest children. Anyone up for the challenge of topping that? Gary, you out there? The boys are great and they are keeping me young, though it does make it tough to get away for mini reunions.

I heard talk that night of gathering at a bowling alley...RAY?, where are ya??? Also, some mentioned gathering at a park with a pavilion. Both cases would probably be more welcoming to spouses/partners attending.

We had a great turn out at O'Loughlin's for the end of summer bash; 22 in all (if I missed anyone, my apologies!). Although the weather threatened and we had some rain drops, it turned out well with a comfortable temperature and tables under the canopy on the deck.

We had a good discussion on how we could make these gatherings a bit more interesting to attract those who aren't really into the bar scene. We are open to other venues such as sporting or music events at reasonable costs or even other participative activities.

So, if anyone has any ideas that a big group of old friends and aquaintances could do together, please feel free to let us know ANY and ALL of your ideas. You can contact me directly, or leave a message for us right here in this forum and we can see if we can try something a bit different from time to time.

That being said, we do still plan on a restaurant/bar get together or two at holiday time; most likely Thanksgiving weekend and in the Christmas - New Years holiday so we can catch the out of towners coming in to see family.

Anyone planning on coming to town around the holidays, please let me or us know and we can see about getting something going to accomodate the visitors!

In the mean time, please keep those get together ideas coming and we can try some different things to do together!

Indian Summer 36; 715-1611

The weather was absolutely gorgeous for round 1 of Indian Summer 36. We had a good turn out for dinner at Bill Grays, then off to Marge’s around 8 ish. The temperature was perfect, a light breeze and a very calm lake. A beautiful sunset capped off the evening on the sand.

I got to see Sue Cancilla Witkowsky, who came in from South Carolina, for the first time since high school which was fantastic. She is looks great and still has that same sense of humor! It was also good to meet her husband Jim.

Ellen Raynor drove in from Virginia with her healing dog bite woulds!

Gary Jones, Sharon Keating Heiligman and I discussed the implications of husbands being in the ‘dog house’. Sharon said her husband never is. I replied that I should have married HER!

Stu Chait wore his “Indians’s Forever” T shirt, and Beth Gaylord Borelli wore her I.F. sweatshirt. Someone had a grey one that I had never seen before. And there were many Indian head drink cozies floating around.

I talked to Ray Lecesse’s better half, Eileen about spending my kid’s inheritance (on them while I’m still here, of course!).

Marc ‘Wass’erman and his lady Wendy Cortese were excited about going to the Renaissance Festival on Saturday so Wass could do his annual ‘Rat Pucking’ (he’ll have to explain it to you!). I had told Marc that I had seen Wendy at Wegman’s while I was looking at flowers, which I bought for my wife. Marc asked about the occasion for the flowers, I replied ‘they were on sale; ya can’t pass up 30% off roses’. I’m such a romantic.

Dinner at O’Loughlins; the sun was blazing at our table on the deck, but soon subsided to much more comfortable temperatures for the rest of the evening.

Kathy Ciulla, whose father was best man at my parents’ wedding, and I wondered why our fathers, lifelong friends, can’t figure out how to use a telephone to call each other (but then again, I’m guilty of communication impairment, too; must be genetic…).

Steve Olesiuk ‘requested’ that Dan the Man Brennan go to the driving range Sunday to prepare for the golf tournament on Monday.

The mystery of Greg Tacconi’s missing keys were solved from Friday when Beth Gaylord Borelli discovered that what looked like her keys on the table at Bill Gray’s turned out to be Greg’s. I was thinking there may be a similar repeat incident when Beth picked up a pair of glasses on our dinner table, put them on and said “who’s are these?”

Alla Feldman Levi and her friend took one quick dance on the ‘flexible’ O’ly’s deck. They did great considering the floor conditions can cause sea sickness!

I Got to spend a little time with my good old friend Sammy Berns. Although I’m not much of a fisherman, I’d really love to go fishing with him some time as it always looks like he is having such a great time doing it! I also bestowed upon him the “Silver Fox Award” for “Best Men’s Hair” of the group.

Janet Marzac Graves has her home repair almost completed and has found a great and convenient fireworks location right on the O’Rourke bridge (when it’s not stuck open!!).

Cathy Carruthers and I talked with Tina Thompson’s brother (Class of 61, 50th reunion at the RYC) about common work experiences.

As usual there were many more conversations and a lot of laughs. It’s always good to get together with my good old friends like John Hart, and my good new friends I’ve made since we started these great get togethers.

All in all it was a great interim reunion weekend. See y’all (that one’s for Sue C!) soon!

It was a perfect evening to be on the back deck a O'ly's. The weather was pefect, and we had a great sunset over the river, and then the lights of Charlotte to view over the calm river. We started with Dan and me for dinner and soon we had to move tables together and borrow chairs from other tables to seat us all together which is a bit different than our usual M.O. of standing and milling around.

It was nice all being to gether at the table so we could all participate in some the converstions going on, and also move into smaller group discussions. Once again, i got to get to know some people better than I had before and to get even closer to some old friends. It's interesting to find out things I've never known about them. And getting new perspectives, I'm even finding out more about me!

Some came and went early, others stayed late. with more than usual staying after midnite.

These gatherings are all different and even though there are a few 'regulars', we are tending to get more variety of guests as time goes on. It's really becoming a nice part of my social life, and i think of the others who attend too!

We have Indian Summer 36 scheduled for the weekend of July 15, 16, and the annual golf tourny on the 17th. If you can possibly make it, please join us then for food, festivities, and, most of all, friends! see y'all soon. Aloha! M

Count 29! If I missed anyone, please forgive me. I’m famous for my terrible memory. I believe ten (those with asterisks) are first timers since at least the 35^th reunion.

As you know, my usual M.O. is to tell about the discussions that occurred during the evening. Recently, however, I am beginning to feel like a yellow journalist reporting for a tabloid rag like the National Enquirer. That being the case, this recap will be a bit different, being more of my general impressions of the party; you decide which has more merit!

This was a really great party with a lot of “new” faces. I hope they all enjoyed themselves enough to attend more of these gatherings. I know I would like to see more of them along with those who have become “regulars”.

Not only did the new people add to the enjoyment of the evening, but so did the different meeting place. I believe it was Kathy Gurnett Brown who suggested Parma Johnny’s (Parmasian-ies, get it?) since Gina is now with the restaurant. It was a great choice with great food, and one of the owners, Lauri Graham Cueva was a graduate of IHS class of 1976. She and her husband John served us well, as did Gina, even though she wasn’t supposed to be working!

For all the great things about social networking such as Facebook, these get togethers show that social networking on the computer STILL doesn’t hold a candle to the live face to face contact with not only good old friends but also to making new friends. The social networking helps rekindle the spark and keep alive, but the real fire to relationships is in the live interactions.

It was really great to be able to be with some good old friends that I hadn’t seen in decades; Dan Brennan and Roberta and Wendy Murawski. It was also a pleasure to be with one of my oldest and best friends, John O’Grady , who I don’t get to see as often as I would like. I was also pleased to get to know some other class mates who attended for the first time such as Stu Chait, Don Travis.

The next scheduled event is Indian Summer July 16, 2011 at O’Loughlins, but we may squeeze in another mini reunion in June. We’’l see!

I hope y’all can make it to Indian summer this, I guaranty that you will have a great time with great people!

Lots of laughs tonight!

Dave told us of Alaskan life and the REAL Sarah Palin!

Jeremy and Gary had a nice dinner, drinks, and laughs, and had to go off for family fun!

Elaine rode in on her Harley which is absolutely gorgeous. She had taken it on a nice 100+ mile tour last weekend!

Beth went over yearbook photos with guests.

Robin and Jeanne told of their very funny adventures at a RTA event!

Wass and Wendy rode in on Marc's Harley. Marc nominated me for President...and he was drinking only Cokes...must've been the caffiene! And Wendy's chaps were great!

Cindy and Gina discussed how old friends "communicate"!! And came up with my campaign slogans of "Been there done that"; and "I don't give a @$$#!".

Leslie gave directions to "her" bike and hike path near the parkway.

Ray and Eileen told us about the mysterious "Jeff"; but they don't know who he is!

As for me, I enjoyed everyone's company as always; I will see ya'll May 6 at Parma Johnny's on Chil Ave!

John Hart and I had dinner and an economics discussion (among other things!!). He complimented me on my healthy choice dinner of a broiled haddock with mixed vegetables on the side. I neglected to tell him of my previous night’s dinner of nasty Bill Grays cheese burgers and fries. John also doubled as a women’s accessory rack (?!?!?).

Gina Muto Lovullo gave me a well deserved dose of abuse for not being a gentleman by not offering my seat to the ladies when they came in!

Kathy Gurnett Brown has a new niece, and she found me to be at least useful for changing the channel on the high up TV to the Sabre’s game.

Cindy Crary Grodin advised me on motivation for fitness….as Kathy tempted me with a plate of hot nachos!!!! The nachos won......

Sharon Keating Heiligman and I discussed a certain missing friend hoping that she will show up at the next party.

Marc “Wass” Wasserman may be the next King of all Rochester Media after his 950 AM radio show debut with his brother telling stories of their window cleaning business (people hanging from window sills and such!). They could be the next Sofia Brothers (but better!). Wendy is being successful in keeping Wass in line!!

Janet Marzec Graves told the saga of “the wall” in her dining room leaking, noting that these things always happen when work is busy. And I was not surprised to see her look like a mama grizzly guarding her dinner from me as it was served to her!!

Beth Gaylord Borelli took my seat (as Gina gave me hell!) on the ‘throne’ observing the party and we discussed possibilities for “Indian Summer July 16”.....and she always brings those little candies for me!!

Ray "Mr. Perfect" LeCesse was congratulated on his 300 game of bowling and he and Eileen will be on to new exciting adventures on the horizon! I'm not clear on whether Eileen buys the "perfect" stuff though!

Steve “Lip” Lipiani from the class of ’76 showed up at the urging of Wass in a mysterious phone call, where Lip finally identified him when Wass laughed on the call. We talked of the crazy old days and now the crazy new days!

Alla Feldman Levi was able to make this party after a long absence; it was nice to see her after so long.

Phil Parcells and Nigel Heaton both were relaxed, but, unfortunately, I didn’t get to hear any more of Nigel’s old jokes!

As usual, everyone had a great time and we are looking forward to the next scheduled event Friday, May 6. Rumor has it that we may be honored by the presence of both John O’Grady and Roberta Murawski!! We can only hope!
